School and Career: I went to my hometown university, UW Oshkosh, and graduated in December 2009 with a bachelor's degree in Journalism, and am currently an online community manager for a global corporation. I never ever imagined myself in the social media world, but here I am and happy to be here. To avoid taking math classes in college, I opted for a foreign language. Russian didn't fit into my schedule too well, so Japanese it was. I took five semesters of Japanese language and fell in LOVE with it. Of course now that there's no one to converse with I'm losing my Japanese vocabulary as well as my ability to put together sentences.
Personal: My fiance, Michael, and I met at Menards, where we both worked. I did a few different things there--cashier, head cashier, morning stocker and electrical department. My favorite was working in the electrical department. I love that I know how to install a light fixture or a new outlet. Now I just need to learn plumbing. Michael worked in building materials. We started dating in August 2009, and on Halloween of 2011 he proposed and I gladly accepted (read about it here).
We are in the process of buying a home, which is an extremely difficult task if you're a temporary employee. We hope to get into one soon though so we can focus on our wedding. We're thinking October 2014. Unless, of course, we win the lottery and have the money sooner!
I never thought I'd like guns, but Michael's hobby found it's way into my heart. I have a blast shooting targets (not animals!) and practicing for zombie attacks. We're both turning into those crazy people who talk about the end of the end of the world and what supplies we will need in case we need to flee to God knows where. I guess it's always good to be prepared, right? Even our government suggests having AT LEAST three days worth of food on hand.
Family: My parents got divorced when I was like one, and are both remarried. I have two half brothers and one half sister: Spencer, Kyle and Claire. Spencer is the oldest, and we're 12 years and two days apart. Kyle is two years younger than Spencer, and Claire is the youngest--she was born in 2009. Claire is such a cute little girl, and her imagination is wild. Spencer and Kyle are both socially autistic, but if you met them you wouldn't know... You'd just think they were weird. And I love them! They make me laugh a lot!
Randoms: I'm impatient and get bored easily, so I like to have little crafty DIY projects to do in my spare time. Either that, or I go to Target, because I'm in love with Target. I have a YMCA membership but do not use it. I have a Wii Fit, but rarely use it. I bought a new Schwinn bicycle last year that's super cute and only rode it a dozen times. When Mike and I finally get into a home I get to have two kitties (Kisa and Strauss) in addition to our German Shepherd (Caliber). Yup, I already have names picked out. I constantly change the color/design on my nails, and pretend I know how to style my hair. I love Fossil and hooded sweatshirts. My favorite season is Fall. I hate snow. I drink too much coffee. Red wine and margaritas on the rocks are my two favorite alcoholic drinks. Chocolate anything is to die for. My favorite food is potatoes. My favorite movie is Green Street Hooligans; TV show is I Love Lucy. I wish I was Japanese, and/or had an English accent. I wouldn't mind looking like Zooey Deschanel.
